In left-handed persons who have been trained to write with their right hand (› 5.8 Unsta-
ble Laterality) the natural dominance will continue to persist, even if the person predomi-
nantly uses their right hand in their adult life.
5.4.2 Organ Representation
Unpaired Organs
According to the French School, unpaired organs are always represented on the side where
they are located anatomically. Therefore some acupuncture points are located only on one
side, irrespective of the person’s handedness (‘laterality’).

Paired Organs
If in a paired organ only one side is affected by a disorder,
generally
only the point on the af-
fected side will be pathological, e.g. in right-sided pneumonia the corresponding pathologi-
cal point will be on the right ear. However, if both points (on the left and the right ear) trig-
ger a RAC-response, both points must be needled.
