Preface
For more than 20 years auricular acupuncture has been a focal point of my interest. Dur-
ing and also following my seven-year training as surgeon at a hospital in Munich I ded-
icated myself to the study of Chinese Medicine; participating in training courses organ-
ized by the various German professional organizations whose aim is to establish Chi-
nese Medicine in Europe. The society I am now most involved with is the SMS (Socie-
tas Medicinae Sinensis) whose chairman and founder member, Prof. Dr. Carl-Hermann
Hempen, is also responsible for a new training course in Chinese Medicine at the Tech-
nical University of Munich. As a member of his team I teach auricular acupuncture. I am
also a member of the examination board of the Medical Association of Bavaria.
In addition to teaching I have a private practice in Bergen (Chiemgau/Bavaria) the main
focus of which is Chinese Medicine with an emphasis on auricular acupuncture. After
several moves the clinic has been firmly established in its current location since 1998
and also allows me to work in conjunction with some osteopaths, notably Svenja Dresen.
My wife, Barbara Angermaier, a naturopath, is also a partner in this clinic, specializing
in self-experience work as well as working with clients with psychological problems. In
addition, we offer courses in yoga, qi gong and Feldenkrais to educate our clients how to
best maintain their health.
Overall, it is our aim to offer an integral way of keeping body and soul in balance. More
detailed information is available on my website
It also contains
information about forthcoming courses, conferences, and lectures.
I hope that this book which contains all my knowledge about auricular acupuncture will
provide practitioners with insights into this particular aspect of acupuncture.
